Women are the backbone of resilience, strength, and love—shaping our world in ways both seen and unseen.
As a jewelry designer and the founder of Magick Alchemy, International Women’s Day on March 8th holds deep personal significance for me. Being born in Europe, this day was always one of the biggest celebrations of the year—a time to honor and cherish the incredible women in our lives. It wasn’t just about romantic love, like Valentine’s Day, but about recognizing the sisters, grandmothers, mothers, and friends who shape and support us.
Now, as a business owner and designer, I see International Women’s Day as an opportunity to show extra love and appreciation for the women who inspire me. It’s a reminder to celebrate the relationships that uplift and empower us every single day.
The Woman Who Inspires Me Most
If I had to name one woman who has had the greatest impact on my life and journey as a designer, it would undoubtedly be my mother. Her strength, resilience, and determination shaped me into the person I am today. She raised me as a single mother and moved us to the United States to give me a better life and more opportunities. But she didn’t stop there.
Starting over in a new country, she went through college all over again to become an accountant, ultimately earning her CPA license. I vividly remember watching her study for her exams, and she even made it fun for me by letting me check her multiple-choice answers. She didn’t just work in corporate accounting—she built her own firm from the ground up. Witnessing her entrepreneurial spirit gave me the confidence to start my own business. Her mindset was naturally ingrained in me, and I carry that same drive and ambition into Magick Alchemy every day.
The Influence of Strong Women on My Creative Process
The women who inspire me don’t just influence my life—they influence my designs. From the very beginning, when jewelry was just a hobby for me, I turned to my mom, my sister, and my friends for their honest opinions. They were the first to receive my jewelry as gifts for every holiday, and their feedback helped shape my style and approach.
Even today, whenever I work on something new, I reach out to them for their thoughts. I recently entered a jewelry design competition, and before finalizing my piece, I asked my mom and sister which variation they liked best. Their insights help me refine my work and give me the confidence to trust my instincts.
Traveling with the strong women in my life has also been a huge source of inspiration. One of my favorite trips was when my mom, sister, and I traveled to Montana to mine for sapphires. That experience deepened my appreciation for gemstones and their stories, which is something I incorporate into my work every day.
Strength in Grace, Leadership, and Empathy
When I think about what makes a woman strong, I see a unique blend of grace, leadership, and empathy. Women have an incredible ability to lead with their hearts, to trust their intuition, and to make decisions that consider the well-being of those around them.
I celebrate these qualities in my jewelry. Strength, success, love, and peace are woven into my designs, each piece serving as a talisman for the wearer. My Xena sword necklaces symbolize strength and courage. My protection talismans represent resilience and perseverance. Each piece carries meaning—a reminder that we possess the power to shape our own stories.
Jewelry as a Source of Empowerment
If I could send one message to the women who wear my jewelry, it would be this: You are powerful, beautiful, and worthy of everything you desire. Jewelry isn’t just an accessory; it’s a form of self-expression, a way to adorn ourselves with meaning.
Just as we wear makeup, perfume, or a favorite outfit to feel our best, jewelry can be a reminder of our strength, confidence, and aspirations. The gemstones I work with each carry their own energy, allowing wearers to connect with their goals and dreams. Whether it’s a piece to celebrate a milestone, a token of self-love, or a charm for protection, my hope is that every woman who wears Magick Alchemy jewelry feels a little more empowered to embrace her journey.
I love hearing stories from my customers who mark their life’s victories with a piece of jewelry—a graduation, a promotion, a wedding, or even overcoming an illness. It brings me so much joy to know that something I created plays a small part in their celebration and self-love.
Celebrating Each Other Every Day
International Women’s Day is a beautiful moment to pause and recognize the women who inspire us, but I believe that celebration should extend beyond just one day. We have the power to uplift and support each other every single day. Whether it’s through a heartfelt conversation, a small act of kindness, or a piece of jewelry that carries a special message, we can remind the women in our lives that they are seen, valued, and cherished.
To all the strong, resilient, and inspiring women out there: thank you for being you. Let’s continue to empower and uplift each other—not just today, but every day.
